Read!

Updated 2013-04-08
I’ve decided to keep my To Read book lists on GoodReads [http://www.goodreads.com] from now on. My MountTBR and Dusty Shelves challenge groups—with their constant prods to clear out the To Be Read piles—are already using GoodReads to track members’ progress, and several members of one of my face-to-face book clubs have started using GoodReads as well.

So, I’m gradually moving all my To Read genre lists online at GoodReads. These lists will keep growing, of course, since I don’t expect people will stop writing books I want to read or that I will stop discovering treasures I managed to miss on the way from birth to here.

A Modern Utopia
3 of 5 stars
Really ambivalent about this book.

I wouldn’t recommend the book to most of my friends. Well’s writing style would bore most modern readers. the stilted dialog, and his very preachy attitude, are very different from the sort of modern s…

Speaker for the Dead
4 of 5 stars
Not quite a all-absorbing as Ender’s Game, but still a great read (re-read, in my case). This book has less action, and much more preaching, but the characters are engaging and it deals with ethical and moral issues that are notoriously …

Christ of the Celts: The Healing of Creation
3 of 5 stars
Enjoyed this, to a point, but was disappointed. I liked the emphasis on "God within all," and the importance of the personal connection with both God and the earth. I was hoping for something a bit more substantial about the history and …
